Bedroom Renovation with Vintage Rally Car Decor
There are two bedrooms in the upstairs of this house. This first bedroom is the larger of the two. It had low sloped ceiling and much of the drywall was bowing. There was a patch in the floor and ceiling where a chimney had been removed. And a small closet in the corner of the room.
Demo
Since the drywall was in poor shape, we decided to remove it and at the same time see if it’s possible to make the ceiling taller. It was a mess! Fiberglass insulation, blown in insulation and all the dust and such. We even found this cool metal button from a military uniform. Likely from the 1950’s. The roof structure was in pristine condition. The beams were amazing to see as they likely haven’t been seen in 150+ years. We really wanted to find a way to keep them exposed but there was just no good way to do that while being able to insulate it enough. Especially for the cold New York winters.
Hardwood Floors
The floors were in need of a good sanding but they really surprised us with how beautiful they turned out! Edward feathered the missing boards from where the chimney was removed. Now it’s all shiny and gorgeous!!
Closet
We knew that we would be removing wood wall that created the closet in the other room to make room for the bathroom, so we decided to reuse it to create a large closet along the left side of the room. We painted it and all the trim in Sage green.
